Meeting imageATTENTION HTPAA MEMBERS

Due to the normal general meeting on 19th Sptember being cancelled as a result of a power outage, it has been rescheduled. The venue is still Box Hill Community Arts Centre but the meeting is in the Arbour Room, instead of the usual Drycraft studios.

The speakers will be Alan West on Making Vernacular Furniture and Grant Knight on Sharpening Drill Bits.

Are you interested in:

  • History & Heritage

  • Tools & Trades

  • Preservation of the Past

  • Traditional Manual Skills

  • Collecting Tools

  • Sharing Knowledge

The Hand Tool Preservation Association of Australia, an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, has something to offer you by encouraging these interests and perhaps reviving earlier memories. As a heritage group we provide a forum for discussing traditional tools and the way in which artisans of the past worked with these tools, recognising the skill and ingenuity of their efforts.

The HTPAA meet at Box Hill Community Arts Centre (BHAC) on the third Tuesday of alternate months, starting from January. Meetings usually have a speaker on a topic of interest to members, and guests are always welcome to attend. For more information: Meetings.

The HTPAA has an association with the Box Hill Institute of TAFE (BHIT), whereby the HTPAA extensive library of Tools and Trade-related books and literature will be indexed in the BHI library catalogue. This specialised collection of books is unparalleled in Australia and members will be able to order books online for personal pickup, or pickup from HTPAA bi-monthly meetings. The BHIT community and the public will have access to the collection as a reference library.

The HTPAA thanks the Whitehorse City Council for their continued support in providing a meeting venue at a subsidised rate.
